- What is available on the site?
- All multilateral treaties deposited with the Secretary-
General of the United Nations and those formerly deposited with the League of
Nations - their latest status and a link to the full texts.
- Bilateral and multilateral treaties registered with and published by the
United Nations Secretariat in accordance with Article 102 up to a certain date - Detailed
treaty references and full texts in all authentic language(s).
- Recently Deposited Multilateral Treaties that have been deposited but not yet published -
available for viewing and downloading in some or all of their authentic languages.
- What are the search options for treaties?
- Multilateral treaties deposited with the Secretary-General can be identified by the
relevant chapter and sub-chapter, by subject-term in the Index and the General Table
of Contents.
- United Nations Treaty Series (UNTS) search screen allows for multiple search
criteria to be used, such as :Date of Adoption/Conclusion, Participants (all
categories), Subject-terms, Popular name of an Agreement, Registration number,
etc. A title/key-word search is also available for the UNTS portion of the
Collection.
- How can I print the actual text (s) of the treaty?
- After retrieving the text of a relevant treaty, you can print it either one page at a
time using the print function of the browser or all pages at once using the image processing application associated with TIF format on your PC or the Adobe Acrobat for records which were made available in PDF.
- Due to limited resources - both staff and financial - neither the Treaty Section of the
United Nations nor the United Nations Sales and Marketing Section are in a
position to provide electronic copies of documents via e-mail.
- Have difficulty printing 100% of the image text.
- Before printing, reduce (zoom out) the viewable text.
- Clear the memory cache to increase the performance of your browser.
The following are the instructions for the users of the Netscape browser:
- Open the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
- Click the Advanced category and select Cache.
- Click the Clear Disk Cache button and the Clear Memory Cache button.
- Click OK.
- Can you help me if I am experiencing technical difficulties?
- Any access difficulties or problems directly related to the retrieval and use of the
materials in the United Nations Treaty Collection should be reported to the United
Nations Treaty Section by phone, fax or e-mail provided at the site. Please
indicate clearly the nature of a problem and we will do all we can to assist you.
- Hardware and/or software-related problems should be addressed to the
manufacturer or vendor of the relevant product. Difficulties in securing the Internet
connection from your PC should be reported to the relevant Internet service
provider.
- Where can I get the registration number for a particular treaty?
- Registration numbers are assigned by the UN Secretariat for treaties registered in
accordance with Article 102 of the Charter. ONLY if it is absolutely necessary for
your research, you may contact the UN Treaty Section by e-mail for the relevant
information.
- You may wish to visit the local UN Depository Library which has the collection of the United
Nations Treaty Series volumes (UNTS).
- You may also wish to consult the list of
UN Depository Libraries or United Nations Information Centers.
